The tunnel walk was interesting. The view and path overlooking the beach was great.
This paved path allows beach access from the beach parking lot (next to Kuhio Hwy) to Ke Ala Hele Makalae (The Kauai Path) as well as Paliku Beach (Donkey Beach). Hau trees (sea hibiscus trees) line both sides of the path, and their foliage forms a long overheard canopy, giving the impression of a shaded tunnel for people to walk through. The path declines while traveling makai (towards the sea), and has a few curves in the path that hinder your view of incoming people, so be careful not to speed through on bike.
Neat little spot along the trail. Topside of tree tunnel is a parking lot with restrooms and water fountains. Bottom conecta with great running path along the shoreline.
Nice drive, worth a small detour to see.
Nice little walk to the beach. Well protected and the tree tunnel was a surprise. Quite an incline but well maintained concrete path. Loved it. For all of you that 'works out' at the resorts, take this as a challenge. Go up and down this path at least 3 - 5 times, you will get your workout for sure. Rough seas though.
